    • McLaren M838T V8 comparison - Dyno overlay of 570S, MP4-12C, and 650S

McLarenBoost previously did a comparison between the output of the McLaren 675LT, 570S, and 650S. That was written with separate Dynojet plot pictures for each car. Not nearly as neat as seeing an overlay comparison with each pull on one graph as you have here.

The 675LT is not included unfortunately but the 570S, MP4-12C, and 650S models are compared on a SuperFlow dyno.

This overlay come from Hypercar Development who is known for their needlessly complex and expensive M838T tri-turbo setup.

So how do the cars stack up?

The MP4-12C and 650S have another 1000 rpm on the 570S. Interestingly, the 570S offers the best spool. It also has more area under the curve than the MP4-12C until 7000 rpm where the 570S drops off.

The MP4-12C and 650S both have more top end power. The 650S enjoys an advantage on the MP4-12C from 4300 rpm on which levels off at redline. The 650S also has an advantage over the 570S from 4700 rpm on.

It is no wonder the 570S is running quicker 1/4 mile times than the MP4-12C. It is lighter with more torque. However, the MP4-12C is the greatest tuning value here. All it needs is an ECU tune to outpace its newer siblings and that extra 1000 rpm gives it a significant advantage over the 570S in the aftermarket.

The reality is all three are extremely capable and who is faster depends on who spends the most money for upgrades.

The 570S' quicker spool and less top end could obviously be related to smaller turbos.

Cool overlay, always wondered how different they actually were.
